[16/02/2004] Traffic circumstances of Rarotonga.
Keiko comments from Japan .(travel in 08/2003)

Public means of transportation are buses.
1 each turns around a bus of being clockwise / anti-being clockwise in a main road of one round 32 kilos round and round in Rarotonga Island for one hour.
But I never got on this.

It is a motorcycle that I used habitually.
It is flexible and is very convenient because it wants to go and can easily go.
But it is cruel at the time of rain.
A rental motorcycle borrowed 100cc on 4th, and it was 55 dollars (a little less than 4000 yen).
For one day, is it around 20 dollars?
When it rents it at inns, it may be extra cost slightly.(It is not true!)

When I rents it, it is for the driver's license presentation of Cook Islands to be demanded that is to watch out.
The person who wants to get into a motorcycle / a car for that kind of reason brings a Japanese license with the person who wants to get into a motorcycle / a car for that kind of reason by all means and at first must go to a police station in a town.

Because a policeman does not understand a kanji character when he shows the license, and it is the license which there can be, and "this insists on a motorcycle with", it makes a driver's license of Cook Islands.

License 10 dollars for one year (about 700 yen).
It took a photograph at the place and was completed 20 minutes later.
It is easy.

By the way, the police of Cook Islands sell a cap and the T shirt which it wrote as "POLICE".
It is the shrewd police which are not thought about in Japan.
By the way, as for me who rented a motorcycle, one round tried to lie across an island at once.

Because there are many roads where the sea is seen, it just looks aside, and it is apt to be run, but is not so dangerous because many cars do not run.

Because a street light is a rest, it ache, and a road is not seen to most of the night when it says either, driving is very dangerous by night.
There are many drunkards, too!

By the way, When run in an island on a motorcycle, which very comfortable.
Blue sea, clear atmosphere, coconut tree growing thick, no helmet in, OK.
And an island has no signal!!
Run as much as I want.

By the way, a speed limit was 40 kilos, but there was not the kept sign at all.
Oh, there seems to be no speed limit in a road such almost empty.
